Bathe your hamster is something that should be considered only in extraordinary situations. A fur hamster contains oils that are vital to regulate their body temperature. Therefore, it can actually be dangerous for the oil to wash with soap and water. A bad smell is no good reason to bathe your hamster, because it is, whether caused by disease or soiled bedding. If this is dirty laundry is excluded as the cause of the smell, it’s time for your hamster to the vet for a check-up.
