For most pet owners, a pet is just a matter of their morning walk with a companion, a buddy holding children, a showcase, or simply keep a family member naked. For others, but the animals around is more than a hobby – it’s an obsession. We all have someone who loves the miniature Noah’s ark in the house, with two (or more) almost every creature in the Sun If you agree, you know that the enforcement of various types of animals in a home requires special attention to the potential for dangerous confrontation. If the rabbits with cats, here are some guidelines and suggestions to this process as safe and easy as possible.

As you know, rabbits are very sensitive animals. The simple stress of a frightening experience can kill a rabbit, and any attempt to rabbits and other animals to perform, should be conducted under strictly controlled conditions. Remember that rabbits are prey animals, while cats are predators. If you acclimatise beings together, you fight against the millions of years of evolution. Nurture plays a role, as food. Outdoor cats are less desirable as companions for rabbits, because they probably many opportunities to hunt and kill small animals before, and have a preview. Before you know with rabbits pet family, make sure they are safe and accustomed to their surroundings. Keep cats away from the area of the rabbit until the rabbit is that you feel comfortable in a house built about one weeks.

Start with the introduction of each animal to another perfume. Introduce the cat tufts of rabbit, or litter samples from the rabbit. Allow the cat to his curiosity, for the meeting of the real thing. The rabbit will experience the same, and probably less shy and timid when he cat. This is important because the first impression of the relationship right from the bat will. A rabbit always running away from the chat will be presented in the spirit of the cat under “P” for Prey.

Fortunately it is usually not the case. Most people who keep rabbits and cats, note that the rabbit is the most aggressive of the two, even to the point of harassment of the cat. This is due to the fact that rabbits are social creatures with an instinctive tendency to assert their authority over subordinates. Cats, on the other hand, are solitary creatures, whose instincts tell them to escape from aggressive animals. However, until you have been able to observe the animals in controlled conditions, can not be sure the cat does not identify the rabbit as a meal. Even if the cat decides not to take a taste of rabbit, they may find the presence of rabbits and give an unbearably ugly scratch. The first precaution you can take to your cats claws trimmed so before they are completed. Even a relatively minor injury can be dangerous for a susceptible animal as a rabbit.

With these preparations, and your rabbit caught in a cage, get the cat cage. Let them explore each other. If the cat tries to reach in the cage and remove the rabbit or rabbit seems to live an intense anxiety-served by remain motionless, trembling, flapping its hind legs, or display the third eyelid, removing the cat and try again later. Do this for about 15 minutes each time.

Following meetings in question, you begin to look more comfortable rabbit in the presence of the cat. When you feel ready both animals, remove the rabbit cage and put it in a somewhat enclosed area like a small room in his large fleet. With the cat on a leash or held firmly in hand, to approach the rabbit. Make sure you time permanent and calm the cat and maybe give a favorite treat. Your goal is to make the cat to associate the rabbit with love, attention, and other things he enjoys. Negative reinforcement is a very poor method of training a cat – they will only remember that the rabbit brings unpleasant experiences, or to wait until people are gone on the attack. If the cat hisses, trying to zero, making a gesture or other aggressive at the end of the session and try again another day.

Because the animals gradually increasing freedom together, they ultimately used to each other. Ideally, they concluded that the other is a member of the “family” as they are, and a source of comfort and relaxation – or at least not as a threat. Remember that cats and rabbits are delicate animals whose behavior can be unpredictable. The departure of a rabbit and a cat together unattended is never 100% safe for one creature. You must use your discretion in determining the degree of responsibility that you can expect from them when unattended, and be prepared to accept the consequences if you misuse them.

With these dire warnings aside, most people believe that cats and rabbits are excellent companions. The first time you see the two of them pressed together, grooming each other with purrs and the tooth-click satisfaction, hard work and vigilance that you have invested in their relationship will look good, rewarded. We wish you much success.
